The Role

We have an immediate opportunity for a Controller to join the team. This is a hands-on role for a small and rapidly growing business with global customers. You must have a love for complex puzzles and accounting methods, including a robust understanding of accounting standards for a recurring revenue business with subsidiaries in several countries and customers in over 40 countries.


Essential Functions

  • Financial Management. Actively leads the accounting function, including GL, AP, AR, Inventory (in conjunction with manufacturing), and Month-end close. Supervises and reviews Payroll. Responsible for production of timely and accurate financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annually). Manages roll-up of US and foreign subsidiaries.
  • Reporting and Analysis. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning, budgeting, and cost optimization efforts.
  • Credit Management. Leads AR function, assesses customer credit requests, manages receivables aging, drives collections in partnership with Account Management.
  • Compliance and Audit. Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting principles, and tax laws. Coordinate audits with external auditors, both domestic and international, to facilitate the audit process. Lead efforts to comply with domestic and international tax requirements including VAT, sales and use tax, and income taxes. Maintain accurate and complete financial records and documentation.
  • Revenue, Expense and Cash Management. Ensure adherence to revenue recognition requirements; create and monitor reliable internal controls related to revenue, expenses, and cash; align expense reporting with GAAP and tax guidelines; develop cash forecasting process and reporting.
  • Policy and Procedures. Create, improve, and implement accounting policies related to revenue recognition, fixed assets, warranty obligations, equipment lifecycle planning, labor cost allocations, and purchasing.
  • Treasury. Supervises cash management functions and bank reconciliations. Monitors cash balances and cash forecasts.


Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA certification
  • 10+ years of public/private accounting experience
  • Previous experience as a Controller
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • SaaS accounting experience
  • International accounting experience
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, including ASC 606
  • Deep knowledge and experience utilizing ERP systems (Netsuite preferred)
  • Prior management of foreign subsidiaries preferred
  • Salesforce experience assessing and verifying sales data preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills in working with senior management
  • Maturity, experience and confidence in being the company accounting expert
